QAnon: Blood Libel and the Protocols, Rebranded
The claim
“A satanic global elite kidnaps children to harvest 'adrenochrome' from their blood — a digital-age fusion of the medieval blood libel with the Protocols' world-cabal structure.”
An unfalsifiable narrative of hidden coordinated Jewish power, contradicted by the documented record.
Historical context
Emerging from 4chan in October 2017, QAnon holds that a 'cabal' of elites — with George Soros and the Rothschilds in recurring starring roles — traffics children and ritually extracts adrenochrome from their blood for life extension. Scholars and watchdogs identify this as a modernized blood libel (Jews murdering Christian children for their blood) wrapped in the Protocols' architecture of a secret world government. Even when 'Jewish' goes unstated, QAnon's villains, banker obsessions, and media-control claims track classic antisemitic tropes, and many influencers make the link explicit. Consequences include the armed 'Pizzagate' raid on Comet Ping Pong (2016), QAnon flags and shirts at the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack, kidnappings and murders by adherents, and harassment of Jewish figures.
The debunking
Every checkable component fails. Adrenochrome is a mundane, cheaply synthesized oxidation product of adrenaline with no life-extending or potent hallucinogenic properties; no child-harvesting infrastructure has ever been found; 'Q's' hundreds of predictions (mass arrests, 'The Storm') repeatedly failed to occur. The genealogical analysis is explicit in the scholarship: genocide scholar Gregory Stanton called QAnon 'a Nazi cult, rebranded,' a restatement of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion — itself exposed as a forgery in 1921 — combined with the blood libel, the medieval fabrication that fueled massacres of Jews from Norwich (1144) onward. ADL's backgrounder documents how QAnon lore mirrors antisemitic tropes (Soros and Rothschild demonology, 'puppet-master' bankers, media control) and catalogues the movement's real-world crimes. Talia Lavin and folklorists trace the unbroken 'nocturnal ritual fantasy' from blood libel through the 1980s Satanic Panic — whose ritual-abuse claims were investigated and disproven — to QAnon. The structure is recycled; only the vocabulary ('cabal,' 'adrenochrome') is new.
Descends from
Adrenochrome harvesting is the medieval ritual-murder accusation in biochemical dress: elites allegedly extract a substance from terrified children's blood, exactly paralleling the fabricated charge that Jews drained Christian children's blood for ritual use.
QAnon's secret cabal controlling governments, banks, and media reproduces the Protocols' forged blueprint point for point; Stanton's analysis in Just Security calls QAnon 'a rebranded version of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.'
QAnon lore names the Rothschilds as founding cabal bankers, importing two centuries of Rothschild demonology directly into its mythology alongside Soros.
Lives on as
The claim circulated through QAnon-adjacent Facebook networks where Rothschild demonology is foundational lore; Greene's broader QAnon advocacy carried the meme from fringe groups into the U.S. Congress and global news coverage.
